Additional Programs

Preschool Program
A preschool disabled program is offered for students ages 3-5. Related services include speech/language therapy, occupational therapy, and gross motor skill instruction.

Extended School Year Program
A six-week extended school year program (ESY) is offered each summer for students. The ESY program is designed to provide consistency in educational and behavioral programming for the students.

Inclusion
Individual students may be included in their sending districts on a part-time basis in either special education or general education classes. A number of supports are provided to facilitate this process, including teacher consultation, staff visitation, transition staff, behavior planning, and curricular adaptations.

Developmental Learning Center Staff
The staff consists of directors, principals, supervisors, athletic director, special education teachers, behavior specialists, speech and language specialists, occupational therapists, adaptive physical education teachers, vocational education teachers, transition coordinators, lifeguard/recreational aides, music teachers, art teachers, school nurses and teacher assistants. A physical therapist may provide services on a contracted basis.

Behavior Specialist
The behavior specialist provides ongoing consultation to the classroom teachers and therapists in the developmental, implementation, and evaluation of the student's educational and behavior management programs. The behavior specialist serves as a resource person to staff and parents concerning the use of applied behavior analysis in the school and home setting and regarding appropriate and functional educational programs. The behavior specialist plays a key role in the DLC staff development program and parent training series in applied behavior analysis.
